HKSGE Travel Scholarship for Students
HKSGE was established in 1981 to promote advancement of gastroenterology including continuous medical education and training. To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the HKSGE, a special scholarship is established to support undergraduate or postgraduate medical students to actively participate in major international conferences in order to stimulate the younger generation interests in pursing research in gastroenterology.
Eligibility
- Current undergraduate or research postgraduate students enrolled in the two local medical faculties (HKU or CUHK)
- As the first author of a research presentation in major international gastroenterology conferences (e.g. DDW, UEGW, APDW, ECCO, AOCC, etc.)
- Priority will be given to students with original research which is accepted as oral presentation
- Nominated by a member or fellow of the HKSGE
Awards
Up to HK$10,000 to cover registration fee, travel and accommodation for conference in Asia and HK$20,000 for conference in North America, Europe and Australia.
HKSGE will set aside a fixed amount for this scholarship for each financial year, starting Jan 1, depending on the financial situations of the Society of that year.
Application Procedure
Application is opened all year round, but should be at least 2 months prior to the actual start date of the conference. Application form can be downloaded from the society website.
The Scholarship would not be awarded to the same applicant in one calendar year.
Application will be on a first-come first-serve basis starting from Jan 1, subjected to the approval of the council members.
An attendance certificate and report of the expenses together with a copy of receipts (up to the allowed limit) should be submitted within 30 days of the end of conference.
Scholarship awardee may be invited to provide a conference report for the Society’s Newsletter.
