There are 2 tiers of membership :

1. Membership
   1. Medical practitioner or scientist who is interested in gastroenterology.
   2. To be proposed and seconded by two Ordinary Members or Fellows of the Society.
      
      
2. Fellowship
   1. Ordinary Members, upon recommendation by the Membership Committee, can be admitted as Fellows of the Society, or any medical practitioner who is a Fellow of the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine or is of such qualification as recognized by the Society.
   2. Practising in any one discipline of gastroenterology.
   3. Required to follow the continuing medical education programme as promulgated by the Society.
   4. To be proposed and seconded by two Fellows of the Society.
